Jia doesn’t show up on most tourist maps. It’s a small village in the Kangra Valley, tucked between Dharamshala and Palampur, surrounded by tea bushes, old farmhouses and the long wall of the Dhauladhar range.
That’s precisely why we chose it. Antaraal was imagined as a soulful alternative to rushed, checklist travel. A boutique luxury resort in Dharamshala where the real luxury is time, space and a view you don’t have to share with a crowd.
Every detail, from our hand-built cottages to the rituals we share with guests, comes back to one simple belief. Good travel starts when you slow down.
Rooted in Culture, Guided by Nature
Antaraal isn’t designed to impress you in the first five minutes. It’s designed to hold you for five days. Quiet paths, warm interiors and small Himalayan touches make every corner feel like a soft landing.
We lean on local people, local food and local craft. Evenings might bring a folk singer from the next village. Afternoons might be a pottery session with artisans who’ve worked the wheel for generations.
Design That Belongs to the Valley
Slate roofs, stone walls, open courtyards and plenty of warm wood. Our architecture borrows from traditional Kangra homes, which were built to stay cool in summer and cosy through winter long before anyone talked about sustainable design. We have just 10 rooms across our Luxury Cottages and Club Suites, and each one faces the mountains.
Food With a Sense of Place
Our menu is inspired by Himachali kitchens and whatever is fresh in the valley. You’ll find a proper Kangri Dham, seasonal sabzis, mountain rajma, and light wellness bowls for days when you want to feel good rather than full.
Nothing arrives in a hurry. We think that’s how meals should be.
Sustainability, Practised Every Day
The nature around Antaraal isn’t a backdrop to us. It’s a partner. We build with local materials, keep waste low, source produce from nearby farms wherever we can, and hire from the surrounding villages. It’s why many guests describe us as an eco-luxury resort in Himachal Pradesh, even though we rarely use the phrase ourselves.
The People Who Look After You
Most of our team grew up within a few kilometres of the resort. They know which trail has the best sunset, which dhaba does the best siddu, and when to simply bring you a cup of tea and leave you alone. That kind of hospitality can’t be trained into anyone. It comes from home.
